2012 Black Girls Rock!

In an interview with Sister 2 Sister magazine Laura Govan agreed with Shaunie O’Neal about Basketball Wives: LA needing a major reboot. Responding to a tweet about the ratings for the spin-off sinking, executive producer Shaunie O’Neal said that a change in cast would do wonders.

Govan echoed those sentiments. “I might say that I would agree with her. A makeover is needed, but I don’t know to what extent,” Laura told the magazine. However, Laura wondered aloud why Shaunie isn’t cutting for the show more considering the shows are essentially cousins. “If you gonna have your name stamped on something, you should definitely support it,” Laura said.

Then came the shade via Laura adding that Shaunie has nothing to do with ‘BBW: L.A.’”

Somewhere Shaunie is snickering because a major reboot of the show has happened and Laura is one of four women who have been given the ax.

TMZ reports:

Sources connected to the show tell TMZ the producers are getting rid of Gloria [Govan], Laura Govan, Malaysia Pargo and Brooke Bailey because the wives, especially Gloria, weren’t allowing "all of their reality to be filmed."

We’re told the breaking point came when Gloria (who is known for her feisty ways) jetted off to Vegas to marry Barnes — and didn’t even let the show know about it. Our sources say the producers felt extremely disrespected by her actions and made the decision to clean house.

Our sources tell us the producers haven’t told the wives they’re getting fired yet, but are already looking for new women to fill their spots.

Draya Michele and Jackie Christie will be the only returning members.

Oop. Meanwhile, Laura did have some suggestions on how to recast the show (not that it matters now): “If it’s ‘Basketball Wives,’ then let’s hold this title. At least have some basketball affiliation.  At least keep it in the group, just have an affiliation. I’ve been with my guy 12 years, regardless of marriage or not. I’ve paid my dues. Give me some people who have paid their dues.”

Maybe production will keep that in mind when searching for her replacements?
